" The Tide is High" (by Blondie with Debbie Harry) What a Geek. Music for your computor. |
"Get Up and Boogie" How did Disco get its name? Who really knows, except that everybody wasy saying "we are going to the disco". TV, Radio, Commercials,Cartoons all had the disco theme. Remember Charlie's Angels and S.W.A.T.? Disco Timeline:
1976 brought us the Queen of Disco Donna Summer with her seductive disco song "Love to Love You" which almost was banned, because of the sexual overtones it had. In October of that same year Rickie Dees (geek) released his comedy song, although it became popular "Disco Duck". 1977 Studio 54 was the big Disco Club in New York and the country, had such people as Andy Warhol, Truman Capote, Cher, Liza Minnelli to name a few. Let's just say you had to have a name with money to get in. In October of 1977 Star War was big and Meco came out with the song "Star Wars Theme". December brought us the classic movie "Saturday Night Fever" of which was the biggest selling album until Micheal Jacksons "Thriller". Feburary of 1978 Chic was on the scene with their roller skating disco song "Dance,Dance,Dance ( Yowsah, Yowsah, Yowsah). What does Yowsah mean? March of 1978 "Stayin Alive" by the BeeGees hit the
number 1 spot. 1979 Disco was wanning. There were other great disco artists: Village People, Gloria Gaynor, Sylvester (Rest in Peace), Vickie Sue Robinson and more.
